Over a million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS. The
Centers for Disease Control estimate that there are more than 55,000 new
infections annually with as many as one quarter of them being unaware of it.
Champaign/Urbana and our surrounding counties have more than 300 confirmed
cases of HIV infection with more confirmed infections every month. With the
help of organizations like the Greater Community AIDS Project, we are better
able to meet the needs of those people living with HIV/AIDS In Our own
Backyard.
The Greater Community AIDS Project in association with AEPhi sorority are
proud to announce the 21st Annual AIDS "Walk for Life/All Walks of Life",
which benefits the Greater Community AIDS Project (GCAP).
GCAP serves 10 counties in Champaign-Urbana and the surrounding areas.
Funds raised by the event support the housing, healthcare, and emergency
needs of people with HIV/AIDS as well as HIV education in our community.
We invite you to join with the many other university and community
organizations and supporters to increase awareness on the impact of HIV/AIDS
in Champaign-Urbana and UIUC communities.
People from all walks of life are encouraged to take part in this effort to
emphasize that the HIV/AIDS Epidemic is NOT over.
Group sponsorships are still available at $100.00. This includes 12
t-shirts and groups or organizations name listed on shirt. Orders must be
received by October 1st ). Additional shirts and other GCAP merchandise
